Hello 30! On Monday I turned 30 and we celebrated my birthday corona(virus) style, haha! It was only the three of us, Alex, Simos and I, and we didn’t do anything super special. Just enjoyed a piece of cake and opened the presents!

THE CAKE

Speaking of cake, it took us one whole day to make it! Yes, we did it ourselves and I’m still amazed by how good it turned out to be. I wanted a vanilla birthday cake with layers of pastry cream and strawberry marmalade covered in pink ombre buttercream! As for the rest of the decoration I wanted different berries and macarons as these are my absolute favourites! The macarons were strawberry flavour and for fruits we chose strawberries, raspberries, blackberries and red berries.

The cake turned out to be very delicious and if you want to re-create it here are the recipes we followed. For the vanilla cake we followed a super easy vanilla cake recipe from Liv for Cake. I followed this recipe many times before. I prefer it with milk instead of buttermilk, this time we did it with lacto-free milk but I also like it with oatmilk. Trust me you can’t taste the difference. As for the butter I chose a vegetarian one. After I noticed that dairy products don’t sit well with my stomach I changed my diet to mostly dairy-free products.

For the pastry cream we followed the No-fuss pastry cream recipe from Martha Stewart. Also this one is tested like a million times! It’s indeed no-fuss recipe, extremely easy to make and it’s also super delicious! For this one we used again lacto-free milk and a vegetarian butter. I never tried it though with any other kind of milk. The marmalade we picked it’s a good quality french strawberry marmalade.

Last but not least the buttercream! We followed this recipe from CupcakeJemma. Her video is very detailed and it was actually the first time ever that I achieved the perfect buttercream consistency! For this one we used normal dairy butter and lacto-free milk. I have to admit that I’m not the biggest buttercream fan, so 9 out of 10 times I don’t eat it! This one was surprisingly not bad at all but still I didn’t eat it most of the times.

THE DECORATION

The decoration was picked by Alex. He knows that two of my favourite colours gold and rose gold so he went for balloons in rose gold shades and gold candles for the cake. He also got a “Cheers B*tches” banner!

THE OUTFIT

For my outfit I was planning to wear a polka dot crop top and a midi skirt but I changed it last minute and went for a white dress, white heeled shoes and a straw hat! The hat is actually one of my birthday gifts! After a while I took the hat out as it was a bit too much for the house, haha!

Regarding the accessories I went for a rose gold watch, pearl earrings, a pearl necklace and a pearl choker, do you see the pattern, haha! I kept my eye makeup quite natural and went for red lips.

THE GIFTS

I did a whole video dedicated to my gifts so if you want to watch it you can find it below! This year I got some epic gifts!!!

And that was it about my 30th birthday you guys! I was so sad that we couldn’t go to New York this year and we had to cancel this trip but I had a great time with the boys and felt super loved! See you soon again my darlings, until then I wish you a great time! Stay healthy and safe!
